“The more that you READ, the more things you will KNOW.  The MORE that you LEARN, the more places you’ll GO,” – Dr. Seuss.  Reading is such a valuable tool in a child’s development, whether they are learning something new or building their imagination (aka the fun part).

It’s book fair week at Dare County Schools, and even though it may be virtual this year, you can still check out your favorites and purchase them with the help of local booksellers.  Downtown Books in Manteo and Buxton Village Books are working together to host an online book fair to benefit all 10 Dare County Schools.  Purchase a book or two or three through October 10th, and the proceeds will be donated to the schools.  These monies will allow the local school librarians to purchase more eBooks and Audiobooks for readers of all ages.

Shop online at the one-stop hub at bit.ly/darefair, which also includes helpful shopping tips.  If you are still not quite sure of a good book to choose, no worries as several teachers, librarians, and even a school nurse provided book talks – short commercials about their favorite books.

What great local businesses you can GO to and shop while at the same time supporting our local schools and the children and families they serve!
