Food Bank of the Albemarle - Filling One Trunk at a Time!
May 12, 2020
Food banks collect and distribute food all over the world with the help of many staff and volunteers. They are the delivery method in which much needed resources are made available to a community. The Food Bank of the Albemarle serves 15 counties located in Northeastern North Carolina.
On Thursday, May 14, 2020 the Food Bank of the Albemarle’s mobile food pantry will be in the Town of Manteo at Manteo Baptist Church from 1:30 – 3:15 PM. Manns Harbor and Colington are other areas in which they will be located throughout the day. The drive-thru style will allow volunteers to place pre-bagged items in the trunks of vehicles in order to respect social distancing guidelines. So, you may not be ready to “spring clean” quite yet but at least you can get started with the trunk of your vehicle!
Canned food items always come to mind when people think of food pantries. However, they provide much more. They also provide meat, produce and even food nutrition services. Brian Gray is the Communications and Volunteer Manager for the Food Bank of the Albemarle and he stressed that, “One of the most important things for people to know is that the Food Bank is available to anyone. Our Mission is to provide food and resources to the community.”
