The COVID-19 pandemic impacted many things, including home ownership and housing-related expenses.  The North Carolina Homeowner Assistance Fund, established through the 2021 America Rescue Plan, is now accepting applications from homeowners living in the state whose finances were impacted by the pandemic.

In an effort to help homeowners avoid financial difficulties such as mortgage delinquencies, defaults, displacements, and foreclosures, the Fund offers assistance of up to $40,000 for qualified homeowners as long as funding is available.  If homeowners are experiencing financial hardship due to job loss or business closure, reduction in hours or pay, difficulty obtaining new employment, death of a spouse or co-borrower or increased expenses due to the pandemic they may be eligible for this assistance.
