CYP Diaper Bank - Another great community resource!
July 13, 2020
What is a diaper bank? Much like a warehouse, a diaper bank stores and distributes diapers and is a valuable resource that can help address a community need. Children & Youth Partnership for Dare County (CYP) recognized the need for such a resource in Dare County and recently launched CYP’s Diaper Bank – A Change for the Better.
Through the Diaper Bank program, CYP is holding a contactless Diaper Pick-Up from Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Center for CYP in Manteo located at 534 Ananias Dare Street. Free diapers and baby wipes will be available while supplies last. There is a limit of two packs of diapers per family, and diaper sizes range from newborn to size six. When you arrive at the pick-up location, please remain in your vehicle and call the CYP Office at 252-441-0614 to identify the diaper size needed. A CYP staff member will bring the items to a designated table outside and return to the office so that you may be able to retrieve those items with minimal contact. This process respects social distancing guidelines and helps with the efforts to keep our community safe.
“Here at Children & Youth Partnership (CYP), we were disappointed to postpone plans for CYP’s springtime events, including KidsFest and Block Play in Hatteras. As we continue to explore ways to help families in Dare County, we intend to offer contactless Diaper Pick-Ups on a monthly basis,” stated Julie Stewart, Children & Youth Partnership for Dare County. The CYP Diaper Bank is a collaborative effort with other community groups, such as the Outer Banks Community Foundation and several other individuals, businesses and organizations. Updates and information on this program and all the CYP activities can be found at darekids.org/blog/cyps-diaper-bank or facebook.com/cypdarekids . Community efforts like the Diaper Bank are helping to make a change for the better, one step at a time.
